In March 2025, our two years of support for the winners of the first GYAAR Studio Indie Game Contest came to an end. Some of the supported titles have already been released, while others are in the final stages of development. We hope that our support made the games even better.
And, we will continue to support the award winners in the medium to long term. Please keep an eye out for the “soulful works” created by the developers supported by this contest!
Comments from the winning developers
It was encouraging to be supported and included among the other award winners who shared my goal of "making a good game."
At the same time, I feel like I was given the determination to "not back out anymore."
Developing a game on my own can be lonely, and that makes it hard to keep going. But seeing that other people were lonely too helped me deal with that loneliness and made me work faster.
Everyone has a different background and is very unique, so being able to interact with them and their titles has been great for my creativity and has improved the game.
I was also happy that through interacting with them, I naturally became a fan of everyone's title. I'm looking forward to the release of their games as much as my own.
The support from the GYAARCon operation team has also been a big help in advancing game development. There are different types of support, but the most important thing was the feeling that people were paying attention to my title. This made me want to keep developing my game. Thanks to that support, Electrogical has successfully reached early access, and now has even stronger momentum towards the release of the final version.
The unique award winners, their works, and the GYAARCon staff all gathered at GYAAR Studio Base, and the excitement of "Let's create something interesting" was palpable.
The two years we spent working on this project were truly wonderful. That's my impression of the honor student mode, but above all, it's fun to develop together! Game development is great!
I am very thankful for all the support and help I got from GYAAR Studio ever since from 2023 when I won the award.
The winners met at the monthly play test sessions, where we increased the opportunities for them to actually play the game. I believe this helped bring the game closer to completion.
It could be a bit weried thing, but I borrowed BNS's in-house equipment to scan real tofu.
This made the texture of the tofu in "The Strongest TOFU" extremely high quality compared to any other game. GYAAR Studio is the best!
After winning the award, I was surprised. I thought, "Why are they treating us so good?"
There are no specific qualifications needed to be an "indie game creator," so it was really meaningful to receive the professional approval at this contest that the game was "good." On top of that, getting financial support and other help was truly exceptional treatment. When I first won the award, I was so surprised that I thought, "Why is this so important?"
But I think the reason is probably simple. There is a lot of pressure to make indie games that meet people's expectations.
I'm not sure if I met those expectations, but I hope people think it's good that "one more game has been added to the world thanks to their support," and that I've been able to have at least a little positive impact on the gaming community.
GYAAR Studio was the key that unlocked the door to my indie game development journey.
Since receiving the award, they've given me everything: financial support, advice from their staff, a spot to show off my game at various events, feedback during play test sessions, and connections with other indie game developers.
Now, all that's left is to release my game...or so I feel.
I'm very thankful, and I'm excited to see more creators join and grow the community!
GYAARCon team, thank you for your dedication and hard work!
The play test sessions and TGS showcase were great examples that helped us improve our project. Your support over the past two years was crucial in helping our studio officially release our game and move forward.
Receiving the support within the last two years has given us the chance to finish the game like we wanted to. Not only that, but we were lucky enough to get a booth at gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, and Tokyo Indie Games Summit two years in a row. We are very thankful to GYAAR Studio for this opportunity.
We've greatly benefited from the GYAARCon program. The funding, playtesting opportunities, and constructive feedback have significantly contributed to the progress of Sea Sniffers. Especially facilitating our TGS & gamescom showcases was an amazing adventure. Thank you so much!
Winning the GYAARCon award gave us access to financial assistance, a development studio, technical support, and the opportunity to interact with other developers.
Without this support, it would have been difficult for us to continue development, and in the worst case scenario, we may have gone bankrupt.
But thanks to the great development environment and professional support, we were able to greatly improve the quality of our work.
We also met other developers who had similar ideas, which helped us a lot.
We are very thankful for the support from GYAARCon.
